How can we work together to build a more preventive European society?

Our "Building a more preventive European society together" symposium took place in Paris on June 20. "Building together a more preventive European society".. Today, we offer you a retrospective of the event!

Why this conference?

The aim of this conference was to present our research and results on "Building together a more preventive European society".a topic largely underpinned by our white paper. The event also marked the culmination of 3 years' work on the Moov&Smile project!

As a reminder, thanks to financial support from the European Commission, Siel Bleu has been able to experiment with opening branches in two new countries - Germany and Portugal, where Svenia and Dina have already brought together over 1,000 participants and 60 partners!-These include a study and evaluation of a falls prevention program in Belgium, a study and evaluation of a program for people with Parkinson's disease in Ireland, a post-COVID study and a program set up in partnership with the Bellvitge University Hospital in Spain for people with respiratory problems.

The aim of our white paper is to lay the foundations for tomorrow's prevention. It provides a precise overview of the economic, social and health situation in each of the countries concerned, details the content of the projects concerned, and sets out the necessary recommendations. It also looks further ahead, making proposals for tomorrow's preventive healthcare.

What was said at the conference?

The conclusions of the Moov&Smile project were presented at the conference. As it is often the case with Siel Bleu, the benefits of regular adapted physical activity were highlighted. However, other key points emerged from the project.

We were also fortunate to welcome Diana Eriksonaite, Policy Officer at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.

And of course, the conference participants didn't just sit around, because we're Siel Bleu and we encourage everyone to get active!

First of all, we can mention theimportance of partnerships and the ecosystem on the ground, as well as the need for all prevention players to work hand in hand.

Secondly, in order to test and deploy Siel Bleu's approach in a new territory, it is essential to have long-term financial visibility, and in this respect, the different administrative and legal systems in each country can be a hindrance to development. Indeed, it would be necessary to harmonize administrative procedures within the countries of the European Union, because when Siel Bleu's activities are set up in a new country, everything has to be built up. So, having a contact on the ground is a great help.

Finally, the most important point is tospread Siel Bleu's values and mission to new territories, to support reach even more people in vulnerable situations.
